Aris Pro model makes VinSmart become one of the first companies in the world to successfully apply the camera under-display (CUD) technology, affirming the company’s ability to master pioneering technology of world-class.

Camera Under Display (CUD) is artificial intelligence (AI) photography technology that allows capturing images with the best quality without displaying the camera on the interface, helping to form a product with a full-view display and infinite beauty. CUD technology has recently been successfully applied and commercialized in a few smartphones in the world, including Vsmart Aris Pro in Vietnam.

To overcome the technological challenges, VinSmart cooperated with VinAI Research Institute (a member of Vingroup Group) to develop VCam Kristal - an AI technology to process images exclusively for cameras under the display. By incorporating AI algorithms and models in computer vision, computational photography, and special neural network architecture, VCam Kristal eliminates image blur, lack of color, chroma noise and flare, color fidelity, etc., to create sharp selfies. AI algorithms will be continually updated to improve image quality on Aris Pro cameras throughout its product life cycle.

In terms of design, Vsmart Aris Series has a modern and trendy style with delicately rounded lines. Both Vsmart Aris and Vsmart Aris Pro are equipped with FullHD+ AMOLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 – an 8-core chipset, with metal frame, luxurious glass back, and "exotic" colors such as Eclipse Gray, Aurora Green, Tidal Blue, and Bronze Nova.

Camera under-display (CUD) is a technology that smartphone manufacturers want to conquer, in order to create a phone screen that does not hide point but still ensure a selfie camera.

According to the technology news site The Verge, putting the selfie camera hidden under the screen makes the light transmission rate no more than 50% compared to conventional designs. This limits the camera's ability to capture light, especially in low light, resulting in large color variations and reduced detail in the captured image.

In addition, the appearance of reflections in the screen layers will cause optical errors, flare, and blur in the captured image. Producing high-quality photos and videos under these tough conditions is the big challenge facing phone R&D centers.

When CUD technology was first introduced in the concept version, VinSmart was only 1-year launch and had its first commercial product for about 6 months. At the beginning of its launch, the Vietnamese telephone company focused on the popular segment and gradually gained a foothold in the market with more than 70% of the smartphone market share under VND 2 million in Vietnam, ranking third in the market.

Having just approached CUD technology in recent months, VinSmart has found an answer to this problem.

Vsmart Aris Pro is about to be released, promising a long step forward with the smartphone manufacturing industry in Vietnam. Mr. Nguyen Dang Khoa - Director of VinSmart Mobile Device Research Center - said that to shorten the time, the company cooperated with Visionox to manufacture hardware. Meanwhile, to solve the selfie photo quality problem, it's not just having money to buy it.

“Initially, a technology company offered a price of 1 million USD with a large amount of money for each commercial product in exchange for a solution for CUD. However, that solution is not really different from other brands, the technology purchase price makes each phone cost a million dongs, ”Mr. Khoa shared.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to process selfie images is a must if you want to produce good quality photos. VinSmart then poses this problem with the VinAI Big Data Research Institute (under Vingroup). The results received, as Mr. Khoa said, is "amazing".

VinAI develops the AI photography technology VCam Kristal, built from the foundation of computer vision, computational photography, and unique multi-layered neural designs researched and developed by a team of experts and engineers at VinAI. .

“VCam Kristal allows overcoming the optical barriers of the camera hidden under the screen, eliminating blur, low light, color fidelity, noise, and flare to create sharp selfies with 4K resolution. AI of the Airs only processed within 1 second instead of 3 seconds as the solution from the partner ”, Mr. Khoa said.

The autonomy in CUD's core technology helps VinSmart to bring to the market smartphone products at easily accessible prices. Vsmart Aris Pro is preparing to be on the shelves, promising to be a long step in the Vietnamese smartphone manufacturing industry in bringing products with complete designs for users.

A former representative of the Ministry of Post and Telematics said that this is something to be proud of because Vietnamese consumers have the opportunity to experience this technology from VinSmart.

“The autonomy of the Vingroup technology ecosystem promises great developments because the technology industry always contains surprises. The companies behind can go ahead thanks to innovative breakthrough solutions ”, said this person.
